Club History
The Falmouth Classic Car Club was formed by about 7 charter members in 1996 in Falmouth, MA in order to share a common interest in old cars and to provide a local venue for weekend cruzin’. The membership has grown to between 50 and 60 people including both men and women owners. The club originally held weekly cruise events in Falmouth, MA. on Sunday afternoons. We subsequently decided that, because there were so many weekly cruise nights on Cape Cod, that we would do three to four “BIG” events each summer. These shows are unique and are held from May through September, 3 at Falmouth Marine Park located on the west side of Falmouth Harbor off Scranton Avenue and 1 in the center of Town (Falmouth Dream Cruise by the Sea) sponsored by the Falmouth Chamber of Commerce. These special events involve the effort of the whole club to put on, and are some of the most popular cruise events in the region. This is a fun family outing! The three cruise events are held on a Sunday afternoon from 11:00 pm to 3:00 pm (click on Events for dates. Food is provided by a local vendor, driver’s tickets are passed out for drawing prizes, 50/50 raffle tickets are offered for sale, and participating vehicles gets a dash plaque in memory of the event. After the show you may enjoy a seaside cruise through Falmouth along a scenic seaside route to Woods Hole and back. What could be better than a Sunday afternoon with a live music concert, good food, companionship, and a beautiful Cape Cod seashore cruise?
In addition to our four summer “big” shows, the club meets on scheduled fair weather Sundays for a cruise to “nowhere” along the scenic winding roads of Cape Cod. The cruise usually takes about 2 hours, and ends up at a member’s house for a picnic. This is, after all, the Falmouth Classic Car and Eating Club! These are family events that include all members and their families.
Aside from our own club events, members attend other club cruise events held each week on the Cape. Tuesday evenings (6:00 pm to 8: pm) we cruise to the Shamrods Cruise night at the Upper Cape Vocational School off Rt. 6A at the Bourne rotary. On Saturday nights, we cruise to the Cape Cod Classics cruise night (6:00pm to 8:00pm) at Patriots Square Mall lot off Rt. 134 in Dennis.
We also meet once a month on the first Monday of the month at our members business, local restaurants or member’s homes. And discuss all phases of autos from finish to performance. Come join us.
